The
Magic Mountain |

| Colesberg lies in typical Karoo veld and is
surrounded by koppies (little hills). The most famous is Coleskop (early travellers called
it "Towerberg" meaning "Magic Mountain"), which can be seen from a
distance of over 40 kilometres. |

| The Colesberg-Kemper Museum is one of several
national monuments in Colesberg. It houses fascinating relics of the town's rich history.
Among its exhibits is a collection of fossils dating back to the first reptiles which
inhabited this area and a photographic display on the Karoo Nomads (donkey
karretjie' people). Walking tours of the district and farms are arranged. |
